We can hope this is a sign that DC is gearing towards its own subscription service, but for now, Marvel Zombies and Distinguished Competitors are out of luck. The big gest publishers, however, have not Marvel, presumably because it wants to keep its comics on its own app, is not available for Comixology Unlimited, and neither is DC. Second, the big publishers are all in evidence: Dark Horse, Boom, IDW, Dynamite, and especially Image have made select titles available.Obviously, that’s still a huge deal, but it is a little bit frustrating to only be able to read the first volume of Greg Rucka’s Lazarus, for example, but no farther. First, the Unlimited catalog, while enormous, doesn’t seem to have any complete stories, with each title offering up either the first issue, or the first trade paperback’s worth of comics. This is unquestionably big news, but it comes with a few caveats: This puts Comixology Unlimited in the company of Marvel’s subscription service, also called “Unlimited,” which is functionally the same for a flat monthly fee, you can read as many comics as you want. The big news in the world of comics right now isn’t DC’s Rebirth or how Marvel is wrecking Captain America it’s Comixology’s new “ Unlimited” feature, a subscription-based service (currently $5.99/month) that allows you to “borrow,” and subsequently download, selected titles from different publishers.
